Arwa

Arwa is a Yemeni artist, born Iman Salem Oumairan in Kuwait, in 1979. Her father is Yemeni and her mother is Egyptian. She soon moved with her family to Egypt and attended primary and high school there. After graduation, she enrolled in the Cairo Architecture College, with the goal of fulfilling the family dream of having an architect among them.

Since she was young, Arwa was a passionate little artist. She re-performed the songs of the Yemeni Icon Abu Bakr Salem and she used to participate, as a singer, in all school and social ceremonies. When she grew up, her talent was discovered at the university by the artist Youcef Mhanna, who encouraged her a lot and even helped her in starting her career. He was also the one behind her first appearance in Orbit Festival. Her name started to be mentioned in art forums and among the critics, and in the music world. She sang ‘Kama Erricha ‘and ‘Touboul Elmekalla’ of Abu Bakr Salem, which were performed with perfection.

Arwa is always looking for inspiration in the heritage of traditional songs of her ancestral city Hadramaut. Throughout her career, she released 4 albums: ‘ Aktar Men Rouhi’ in 1999; ‘Enta Aarefni, in 2006; ‘Einikk’,in 2007,and ‘Ghasb Annak’, in 2009.

Later on, Arwa turned to TV presentation. She is currently an MBC show host for the broadcast ‘Akher man Yeaalam’.
