Melhem Barakat

Melhem Barakat is a Lebanese actor, singer and composer, born in 1944 in Kafr Chima in Lebanon. 

Melhem Barakat listened tirelessly through his youth music of the famous Egyptian composer and singer of the Mohamed Abdelwahab, who will give him all his life's passion of music. He discovers a growing passion for composing and singing since his childhood in the convent school of St. Maron El Meouchi.

Then he sang regularly at school events, but what was really decisive for his career choice was the composition of the anthem of the school. It was a pivotal experience that will lead them to join the National Music Conservatoire. There he learned the art of handling notes and rhythms, and learning to play his favorite instrument the Oud.

 He then entered the prestigious school of Rahbani brothers, and understood very quickly that his talent is not limited to singing, but it is also good at composition and writing. He has made for himself and others , including Najwa Karam, Sabah, Magda El Roumi, Walid Tawfik or Ghassan Saliba very beautiful songs.

 He begins then a career that took him from success to success. The first challenge that Melhem met writing, composing and playing in the play "Al Amira Zumurrud" alongside Salwa El-Khatib. He followed with "Arabi Assabi" and "Wa Bi Mchit Tariki" alongside the Lebanese dancer Dany Botros. He will perform on numerous occasions leading roles in theater and in two movies during the '80s.

 Melhem has also distinguished himself in the song regularly, producing tubes such as the legendary "Ala Babi Waef Amarin", "Enta Habibi", "Abouha Radi" or "Farah Ennass." Several scenes of concerts and festivals still remember his passage and his magnificent performances. Melhem is now considered a great Maestro of Arabic music, of a true incomparable genious.
